Spyderco Fred Perrin & Cold Steel Tai Pan combat knives
BackFor day to day covert backup weapons, folding tactical knives fit nicely into the continuum of force: compact, relatively fast, deadly with training, and easy to conceal. However if engaged in OVERT combat operations (and you have forewarning of conflict), like in the military, our options open up a lot. Maybe then we would prefer the longer reach, speed, and versatility of a fixed tactical blade... if you can take the added weight and bulk. Here's two fixed blade tacticals I think real highly of.

Two different beasts man, Daggert 2 is a modernization of Faribain sykes fighting dagger, and is alot less than the (in my opinion at least) over priced Tai-pan, i dont doubt the Tai-pan is a better knife than the daggert two, but i think you get more for you money with the SOG in this case

double edged blade is practically better for those that uses it with less movements but completing more tasks....meaning u make almost full use of the double edge
but then again its my opinion so pros out there? dont scold me

bannappleburger (Tuesday 28th of October 2008 09:47:11 PM)
its to open the blade with one hand. you kinda stick your thumb in the hole and flick it open.

wat are the advantages and disadvantages of a dubble edged blade compared to a single edged? i myself only know techniques that uses a single side, but then again im no expert

in alot of liberal states like mass, Double edged weapons are higly illegal. also in the field u cant press down on the spine for heavy batoning. Generally a Double edged knife is a dagger, a combat knife for when ur outta ammo or ur guns are jammed. If u want a good double edged knife, for a good price, just go for the OSS by coldsteel.
