Gaahl really believes in this whole ideology behind what he's doing—he's not just some rockstar fronting a band. The thing with Black Metal is, in Norway, everybody is exactly the same. There's nothing to rebel against, because everybody's really well off. It's one of the richest countries in Europe. There is no lower class, it's like middle-class white kids everywhere—no one has anything to complain about. And he's this sort of eccentric figure amidst this sea of contentment and sameness. The way I see it is, in America you have guys like 50 Cent who are supposed to be the "villain." Kids like him cause they're parents hate him, and that's basically what Gaahl is. Haha yeah, it sucks in that sense. :D Good thing I don't get as offended as easily by most bands. I think Anal Cunt is by far the funniest band I've ever heard, I love all of their songs. This is sort of off-topic, but I read on wiki that Deicide's guitarist Catholic. I thought that was pretty funny. Although I guess if you're all about the music, and not so much the message, then it's okay. I don't think a christian person would be in Gorgoroth, just bcause they're more about the message.

This is true, if a band truly believes what they sing then its more likely to offend certain people, because its more then just lyrics. Then again my friends mum is Christian, and she doesn't like him listening to 'The Offspring' - she says they're satanic haha!

Lol yeah, my parents used to be like that. My dad even used to say regardless of the lyrics, a band isn't christian if they scream, so I wasn't allowed to listen to Antestor or anything.
