i think that villazon has great potential, he has a good lower register and a thrilling high register, but he nees to work on his technique. he gave a nice high note at around 3 minutes 36 seconds, on the occasion he didnt crack. he may not be one of the greatest tenors in living history, but he is good.

Valencia-For every operatic artist there are two sides: The interpreter and the technician. The interpreter is governed by the technician. That is so because the interpreter cannot interpret what the technician cannot produce. If the technician can produce a marvelous sound, the interpreter has a good chance of interpreting it splendidly. If the technician fails, it doesn't matter how good the interpreter is.

Valencia-It is my opinion that it would be the WRONG path to pursue. I'd suggest the likes of Gigli, Schippa, Pavarotti, Bjorling, Corelli, Tucker, Aragall, and Kraus. You should NEVER EVER take Domingo, Carreras, Villazon etc as role models. Your emphasis should be on free vocal production, and not on strained, strangles and pushed sound.

hello I can't help but notice your emphasis on technique....I have been advised that I need to imitate domingo in technique....I am a low baritone....being insisted in as a tenor....any insights on a good type of technique and elaborate your basis of your criticism of villazon's technique......
