Yes, useful window managers for example (like fluxbox or awesome wm) and probably many other things. But if not, why would be it a problem? You think, the knowledge is only for comapnies not for everyone? If an idea, a solution is really good, everyone _should_ copy and use it.

Of course I'm not saying information is just for companies, this can be seen by the inclusion of BSD.
And yes, copying and improving a design is good, otherwise we would be in the stone age.
My point however was that the MS and GNU/Linux teams are quite focused on improving and extending rather than finding new solutions to problems, like Xerox (PARC anyone?), Apple, and BSD do, so screaming theft about 'spaces' is quite a misinformed and altogether silly thing to do.

ROFL its not stealing when Apple steals Xerox's virtual desktop concepts or interface. When Apple does it, its called borrowing, innovation, or creating "NEW" solutions. LAWL Thanks dude, haven't laughed that hard in awhile.

It looks like you misunderstood my post.
Let me summarize:
1. Multiple people here claim Apple 'stole' spaces from linux.
2. My reply to this is that Apple did not 'steal spaces' because they already had virtual desktops back in 1985, when the word 'linux' did not even exist (and, again, linux itself is not relevant here, X is).
And now for you especially punktdawg, notice that I do not claim other parties did steal spaces or that Apple has not stolen anything else.
