So why do destroyers let their depth charges sink on their own accord? Why don't they fire them directly towards the spot that they think that the submarine is? The answer is that the density of the water prevents it. One cubic meter (about 35,3 cubic feet) of water weighs as much as an ordinary car!

lol thats the most stupid thing ive ever heard if u actually listened to mythbusters it slightly slowers the bullets course but it is still very lethal and it may curve the slightest bit. and with your submarine thing its like a tank would u take out a tank with bullets NO and i torpedo is nearly as heavily armoured so youd try to do the same dumbshit

Of course they can be deadly - if you're just below the surface. Since I don't want to recite the whole test word by word, the easy thing to do is if you do a search for "Annotated Mythbusters". Go to season 2, episode 34. In that episode they fire a variety of guns directly into water at near point-blank range. The guns they tested were: 1 9mm pistol 2 M1 Garand/.30-06 3 Replica Civil War black powder rifle 4 Shotgun 5 .50 cal rifle
