This, in my book, is easily the best moment in baseball hostory.
It's very moving.
I'm only 15, but I've worn number 4 on the back of my jersey since t-ball, in honor of this man.
And lay off the Simpsons, seriously.

Heart warming to hear this from a young fan ! My Grandfather, RIP, had the privilege of seeing the "Iron Horse' play many times back in the 20's/30's. He constantly raved about Lou's tremendous talent but considered him to be even more impressive as a human being. A hero to me, and many other Baseball fans, despite the fact that I am a die hard, lifetime Red Sox fan!

I know most of what I know about Gehrig because of a great player by the name of Cal Ripken. Just a couple of guys who showed up for work everyday..... and played some darn good baseball.

Absolutely beautiful speech. Puts things in perspective doesn't it? To go in front of those fans and deliver that message when you know you're dying really takes fortitude. RIP Lou

Not to disrespect Lou by making this a Simpsons discussion, but I am as long term a Simpsons fan as there is and you have to lay off. Granted, 2003-2005 was not very good. But since, they have gotten much better. Will they top the early-mid 90's stuff? No, that's classic stuff. But, the new stuff is pretty good. Just because it's not in your face and completely insane and off the edge like Family Guy it instantly becomes irrelevant and no good? Family Guy WISHES it was The Simpsons! haha!

That was just kind of a throw-a-way comment I put in at the end. While I do stand by it, I wasn't expecting to start a conversation over it.
The problem with the Simpsons sorta started happening when Homer just got a new job every week and it started to infact get too "off the edge and insane." Season 9/10 were the last seasons I could consider any good. Anyways that is about all I have to say about that.
