Nokia N95-8GB Loose Slider Fix

Back

Update 16.02.08 (Read this) Tape used in video is a bit to thick. Be very accurate and careful with the tape piece or else it wont stick to the plastic rail properly. How to fix loose slider on a Nokia N95-8GB, it's a bit different/harder than fixing a regular N95. This is probably the fifth time I do this and this mod seem to be very good. Same smooth slide without the annoying click on the left side of the screen. Cons and pros. +Removes the loose slider on right side. +Easy to do. +Does not require any special tools. -May fracture the guarantee. -It's possible to break something if not careful enough. -It does not remove the very little looseness on the y axis. Enjoy =)

I think your Windows 98 computer has errors popping up during this video. You might want to get that looked at. :) Nice video. I cracked my screen on my N95 8gb and had to replace it. Really easy fix, I should have made a video though.

Actually it's my dads Win 2000 computer. Your attention to sounds is awesome. ;) Yep, that would have been great. :D

hey i need help. honestly i dont really know how the "tape" works and how you're supposed to do it. At All. -_- how do you exactly do it?? wat kind of tape??
Kallenator1988 (Tuesday 11th of November 2008 09:18:13 AM)
You cut out a small stripe of the tape which you attach to the rail as shown in the video. If you have the rail in front of you it's not hard to understand. The tape has to stick properly to the rail or it won't last at all and it can't be to thick or else there will be to much friction, which that will tear the tape off. The tape used in the video is a bit to thick and could have had better glue. I call that specific tape "electrical tape", since it is commonly used with electrical stuff.

Hey thanks for posting this!I just cannot believe that Nokia never sorted this problem, particularly after the first batch of problematic nokia n95 sliders! We the consumers are partly to blame because we complain about weight issues with phones???I would rather a few gramms heavier and make these parts from metal, what about if you sprayed those parts with paint, then lubed them, surely the paint would last alot longer?
Kallenator1988 (Saturday 8th of November 2008 10:27:20 AM)
That is a good idea, but I think it would have to be several layers of pretty tough paint and you would have to mask up most of the rail.
