~60MB-80MB out of 1GB is a "shit load"? It is rather odd that with CF enabled my RAM usage typically remains lower than the equivalent on XP when I have the equivalent programs open.

"on graphics card" I have an Nvidia 6800 w/ 256MB of RAM (DDR2). You can see my old desktop which was posted here. CF has been reported to run decent on 32MB grahics cards.

Who said mine was new? I got mine in 2005 (though even then 1GB wasn't much).
