Hopi and Pueblo Indians doing Eagle Dance
BackHistorical black and white footage of Hopi Indians doing the Eagle Dance, than the same dance, but done in the late 1990s by the American Indian Dance Theatre. This dance was done by all Uto-Aztecan people of the Southwestern United States, like the Pueblo and Hopi people. We Paiutes are related to the Hopi and other Pueblo people through language, customs and culture. We share very similar creation stories and legends. We Paiutes also do a variation of the same Eagle Dance which I also added. In a lot of our dances we Native people imitated animals and things that surrounded us. We held them dear and honored them by imitating their movements in dance and song.
