He's singing this song to get some girl's attention. He is basically giving up on having a relationship with her. But I don't understand the last line about a son saying "I like you"??? Is that her son or his?... or their child??

It's in his greatest hits cd called, "10 Years Rock 1". There's also a greatest hits volume II called, "10 Years Rock 2" with more great songs. By far the best two purchases I made in Thailand last year.
