Listen to Paolo Abel do Nascimento, he was probably the closest thing to alto castrato we are ever going to hear.

Maybe the arias themselves were originally written mezzo-sopranos. But Ewa is a contralto all the way.

how would one do those fast melismas like such? i always....and i love to sing baroque music...but i can't sing melismas this fast and i though not a counter i could sing this in falsetto.

The most common way is a glottal coloratura, but singing with a slight puff of air, not quite an H infront of the the vowel but enough to give it definition.

Maybe closer to the low end of a mezzo, BUT...their performance style was masculine. The range of most castrati repertoire rarely goes above a high A, Bb at the most, and of course singers ornamented higher if they could, but more middle range was used because they used more chest register as high as they could take it.
