India unveils high-tech gunship

Back

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is re-jigging the Advanced Light Helicopter to provide Indian forces their first dedicated attack helicopter which is able to fly hot and high. The need for a helicopter gunship, capable of operating at high-altitude, was felt during the Kargil conflict, when the Russian M-17 proved to be a sitting duck for intruders armed with Stinger missiles. But the new gunship can hover over inaccessible areas and hunt down enemies at places where fixed-wing, fast-moving aircraft find it difficult to track targets. This gunship-in-the-making is being designed to carry and deliver a 1,500-kilo weapon-load even at the world's highest battlefields. And a mock-up display at the Bangalore airshow suggests that this helicopter will be so full of fire that it will rain hell on the enemy from the air. (more)

"so full of fire that it will rain hell on the enemy from the air." hopefully it not fiery fragments of its exploding airframe. LOL. Some statements lose so much in translation

Gunships and aircrafts are just a piece of cake, coz we have sent spacecraft to moon with high precision without a slightest mistake, it was something like "picture perfect". These aircrafts and helicopters and submarines and all other millitary hardwares are just a piece of cake. The only prob is that our fukin government have to approve it as fast as possible and most of the time they don't and we lag back.

Yes, but have you heard of the Arjun and the LCA? Where are they now?
bennyagp (Friday 10th of October 2008 04:32:05 AM)
you talking about the tank Arjun? 125 Arjun tanks will be added in this year end. More will be inducted. just search the youtube.

Ah, Arjun is finished. No more than 124 will be ordered. It has consistently failed just about every trial it was put through. LCA is stuck. What now? Oh, I know: build more plastic/metal mockups for weapons of your wet dreams.

Arjun failed every test? Please enlighten me with what those tests were. I think we have another stupid Madrasa educated Paki, who's mother dances for welfare checks in Lahore Pakistan

I am not a paki. If I had a choice of become either Indian or Pakistani, I would definitely choose the latter. With that said, Arjun failed all trials starting in 2001, and previous tests were on its subsystems, and those results were very checkered as well. I'd recommend a cow driven replacement.
