In remembrance of 'Reformasi 1998' Produced by Indrani Kopal September 1998 was a watershed in the nation's political landscape. Never before had Malaysians witnessed such infighting in Umno. On Sept 2, they saw the sacking of the deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim, who was also finance minister. He was arrested eight days later. Old and young alike took to the streets in the thousands in October. Ethnic barriers were breached as people demanded justice and screamed for reformation.
