What about that Bass-line!? Brilliant!!
Ah, the eighties when you had to be able to play and write music yourself rather than relying on studio musicians and special effects!

I agree that The Associates were or are an underrated band. I really like that name...
The Associates.

Yes they never seem to be remembered when people talk about the eighties, I suppose they were quite unusual even for those times. The Affectionate Punch is really quite a new wavey album and bands like Duran Duran or Boy George were a lot more poppy. I love them even after all these years they still sound so incredible.

I agree AGAIN, lol
I've most of their tracks on audio tape.

I sort of forgot about them for years, prob a combination of me getting older and music changing. I got back into them as I got hold of their albums on c d and it was magical to hear that amazing sound again. In fact it was almost like hearing them for the first time. Seeing the vids is great too.

I'd forgotten about them too, for awhile. But thats not OUR fault. Things happen, people move on. "Club Country" and "Do I Do" (by Stevie Wonder) were the very first pop records that I ever bought and like so many others, the music holds memories for me; good ones, and not so good... but its part our youth. I'm glad you're fan and you remember this group. Not so many us of do, and therein lies the shame.
