Lego Mindstorms NXT Pneumatic- X6 Hexapod
BackX6 Hexaped, walker. Outdoor testing. The cold had a bit of a slowing of the pneumatic parts. This was the first test out doors in the dirt. A work in progress. its is special in this way its the first to use electricaly swiched pneumatics in hexpod with the mindsensors mmux(see add for this at thier home page). self contained, can stear and see how fare from walls to turn and able to go off road.
but yes it does have many parts and this is the light version you should see what it was to get to this compact!

This is a solid idea, but this kinda showcases the restrictions of using legos for things. It's slow and pretty loud in comparison to other hexapod robots, and it's kinda big at 5lbs. The only real advantage to mindstorms that I've noticed is they tend to be easy to program. It's pretty cool and looks solid, but you seem talented enough that you could build a much better robot with metal parts and stronger motors.

The real advantage is that every project done is from the same parts. In lego the real test is too see what can be made with the limits of plastic intelinking parts. the cost to go from lego to say Vex is like 10 to 1 and vex is still a toy as well. the amount of parts lego makes for pennies is amazing, well some parts are alot more but all in all. also there are 12 triple-a's that are part of the laden weight
